The Lava Crag Farm: Mastering Tier 2 Evolution

Updated 2018-10-20 · 2 min read

If your team has hit the Level 30 wall, it’s time to head to the Lava Crag. This guide explains how to farm the essential gems and shards needed to unlock your monster's true power.

🌋 1. Reaching the Lava Crag

The Lava Crag is the third major island in Evomon. You can reach it once you have defeated the boss of Petal Pond.

  • Requirement: You need an Aerial Mount or a Lava-Resistant Mount to navigate the islands within this biome safely.
  • The Spike: Wild monsters here start at Level 30. If your team isn't fully evolved to Tier 1, you will struggle with the increased aggression and AOE fire attacks.

💎 2. Evolution Gems: The Bottleneck

To evolve your starter into its final form (Level 90 Tier), you need more than just stones; you need Evolution Gems.

  • Fire Gems / Water Gems / Grass Gems: These are rare drops from the Elemental Trainers scattered across the Lava Crag.
  • The Farm: Locate the "Trainer Arena" in the center of the volcanic crater. Defeating these trainers repeatedly is the only reliable way to farm gems. They have a 15% drop rate, so expect to battle them several times.
  • Evolution Shards: These are "pity" drops. If a trainer doesn't drop a full gem, they will always drop a shard. 10 Shards can be combined in your inventory to create 1 full Gem.

⚔️ 3. The "Lava-Ready" Team

Because the Lava Crag is dominated by Fire and Rock types, your team composition must shift.

  • Water is Essential: This is where your Bubble Fin (or any water type) shines. Its water attacks will deal 2x damage to almost everything in this zone, including the trainers.
  • Avoid Grass: Unless your Grass types are significantly over-leveled, they will be "melted" by the passive burn effects and fire skills of the Lava Crag mobs.

📜 4. The Tier 2 Checklist

Before you head to the Evolution Kiosk at Skyheart Isle, ensure you have the following:

  1. Level 35: Minimum requirement for the first evolution check.
  2. 3 Evolution Gems: Matching your monster's type.
  3. 20 Rainbow Stones: Farmed from the colored Rifts in the overworld.
  4. 12 Element Shards: Farmed from trainers or elite mobs.
