The Best Starter in Evomon: A Competitive Breakdown

Updated 2018-10-20 · 2 min read

Selecting your first companion is the most important decision in your Evomon journey. This guide analyzes the meta to help you make the right choice for a fast start.

🌊 1. The Undisputed King: Bubble (Water)

While every starter is viable for casual play, the community consensus for speed and efficiency is overwhelmingly in favor of Bubble.

Why it dominates:

  • Island 1 Advantage: The first major zone, Verdant Valley, is populated almost entirely by Rock and Ground types. Bubble’s water-based skills deal 2x super-effective damage to nearly every enemy you encounter in the first hour.
  • Boss Melting: The first Island Boss is a massive Rock-type construct. A Level 15 Bubble can often "solo" this boss with zero support, allowing you to unlock the second island faster than any other starter.
  • World Boss Utility: Early World Bosses often feature Fire or Rock attributes. Having a high-stat Water starter allows you to contribute significant damage and secure better loot tables from the start.

🔥 2. The Powerhouse: Blazpup (Fire)

If you prefer a high-risk, high-reward playstyle, Blazpup is your second-best option.

  • Raw Stats: Blazpup typically has the highest Special Attack stat among the three starters, meaning its neutral damage is unparalleled.
  • Late-Game Scaling: Once you move past the first island, Fire becomes a dominant type for clearing Bug and Grass-type biomes.
  • The Trade-off: You will struggle more in Verdant Valley. You may need to spend extra time catching a "fodder" water monster to help you past the first boss.

🌿 3. The Specialist: Leafbun (Grass)

Leafbun is often considered the "hard mode" of the current release, but it offers unique utility that the others lack.

  • Sustain: Leafbun is the only starter with early access to Healing Skills and status-inflicting moves (like Poison or Sleep).
  • Tanking: With higher defensive stats, Leafbun can survive hits that would one-shot a Blazpup.
  • The Grind: Because the early game is so Rock-heavy, Leafbun progresses slower than Bubble. It is recommended for players who enjoy a more methodical, tactical approach to battles.
